We take pride in what we do at Pittsburgh Career Institute. We have a passion for education and helping students become skilled professionals. Learn more about what makes PCI a great place to build your new career!
Pittsburgh Career Institute’s reputation has a long heritage and a rich history. In 1980, we opened as the Western School of Health and Business Careers. In 2003, Career Education Corporation acquired the school and in 2008 changed the name to Sanford Brown Institute. A private ownership group purchased the school in 2014 and change the name again, to Pittsburgh Career Institute. Though the name has changed through the years, the school’s focus has remained sharp: to prepare motivated students for successful professional careers in the healthcare field.

No longer the industrial steel town of old, Pittsburgh was named “America’s Most Livable City” by Places Rated Almanac. Students can enjoy the history and culture of Pittsburgh with many off-campus activities and learning opportunities.
Our students can travel to and from school efficiently with public transportation because our campus is located downtown. Visit the Port Authority of Allegheny County for schedules and fares.
As a PCI student, you can get the attention you need from your instructors because of our small class sizes. Our low student-to-instructor ratio allows us to provide each student with personal instruction and guidance that fits their needs and unique learning style.
Our dedicated Career Services team helps students with resume writing, interviewing, networking and more. They also provide job-placement assistance to both students and graduates. The graduate employment assistance process intensifies as students approach graduation and students typically have opportunities to interview both on and off campus. At PCI, we do everything possible to help our students find jobs in which they can excel and enjoy.
PCI is accredited both institutionally and programmatically.
PCI is also authorized by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to confer Associate in Specialized Business and Associate in Specialized Technology degrees in certain programs.
