Verification Process

Verification Process

The United States Department of Education and Pittsburgh Career Institute reserve the right to select your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for a review process known as verification.  If your application is selected, you are required to submit select information such as:  student’s IRS tax transcript and, if dependent, the parents’ IRS tax transcript and documentation of untaxed income and benefits, and a completed federal Verification Worksheet to the Financial Aid Department at the campus.

If a student is selected,  Pittsburgh Career Institute is required to complete the verification process prior to certifying student loans and disbursing those funds to the student’s account.  Failure to complete the verification process within fourteen days of the initial request may result in the cancellation of aid and the termination of enrollment.  If corrections are necessary on the student’s FAFSA, they will be made electronically after the verification process has been completed.

The student will receive an updated SAR and if any further action is needed the Financial Aid Department will notify the student.
